How To Add Google Search Console to WordPress
Here is a step by step tutorial to add Google Search Console to WordPress.
The process starts by ensuring Google Search Console is connected to Google analytics. And then adding the MonsterInsights plugin to WordPress to access the Search Console Reports:
- Sign into your Google Analytics account and navigate to Admin on the left pane.
- Under Product Links, click on Search Console links.
- Click on Link button in the top right corner to open Create a Link with Search Console page.
- Click on Choose accounts and hit Add a property.
- Use the search bar to find your property.
- After selecting your property hit Next.
- Then click on Select to select a web stream and click on Submit.
- You will get a message saying LINK CREATED.
- Now Go back to the main screen and go to Reports>Library.
- Find Search Console under Collections; Click on three dots to find Publish and click on it to publish.
Now, let's install the MonsterInsights plugin. You will need a paid (Plus or above) account for it.
- Subscribe to MonsterInsights (Plus plan) and Download Monster Insights zip file.
- Go to your Wordpress Dashboard and go to Plugins>Add New.
- Click on Upload Plugins.
- Upload the Zip file you downloaded on MonsterInsights and hit Save and Continue.
- Add your license key and click on the Connect MonsterInsights button. (You will find it on your email)
- Finally, click on the Connect MonsterInsights button again to connect it to Google Analytics and hit Complete Connection.
- Hit Save and continue on the next screen.
- Turn on all the tracking options and click on Finish Setup & Exit Wizard.
- Go to Google Analytics>Admin>Data settings>Data Retention and increase the Data Retention from 2 months to 14 months.
- Head back to WordPress and click on Insights in the left pane.
- Click on the Search console tab to find the Search Console Reports on your Wordpress account.
