How to Use Asana Timeline
Using Asana's Timeline feature allows you to visualise your project's progress over time. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use Asana Timeline:
- On your 'Project' section, go to the 'Timeline' menu.
- You'll see your tasks displayed as bars on the timeline. Each task is represented by a bar, and its length corresponds to its duration.
- From your timeline, you can click the task box to view its subtasks. The subtask count appears next to the task name.
- When you click the task, you'll be directed to the task pane you'll see the subtasks below.
- Click the unscheduled subtask and schedule it from the tasks pane.
- To add tasks in the timeline, simply click the 'Add task' button and name your task.
- You can drag the task in your timeline and place it whenever you see fit.
- You can reschedule tasks in bulk by clicking the CTRL key on your PC.
- You can multi-select tasks
- Drag them across to where you see a more realistic date on your timeline.
- You can also sort your tasks on your timeline by either start date or due date or assignee.
- To save your default view, click 'Save view' button
- To set colours on your timeline, click the 'Color:' to choose your colour preferences.
- You can choose 'Asana Default', which pulls from other colours you have set in Asana, or you can set your colour logic based on custom fields.
- Once you've set up your timeline, make sure to save your changes.
