How to Backup Dropbox to External Drive

Here's how to do it:

Ensure the drive is properly connected and has sufficient space for your Dropbox files.
On your computer, navigate to your Dropbox folder via Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows).
Select all files/ folders you want to back up and right-click and choose Copy.
Open your external drive and Paste the files there.
